Hi All!
I don’t know about you…but I’m TWENTY too. Yes, I really can’t believe I am the big 2-0. Where did the time go? It felt like just yesterday I was starting high school. I guess time really does fly by when you’re having fun.
Last night, I felt like a child because I could not sleep at all. I haven’t really been excited about my birthday for a couple of years now (probably just the fact that as I get older, birthdays aren’t as exciting as when they were when I was 10). However, the whole turning 20 thing really made me sentimental and my mind was full of running thoughts. At 1 AM, I finally decided to read The Fault in Our Stars by John Green (all the rage right now!). After a couple of pages, I felt my eyes starting to droop and thought it was finally time to get a little shut-eye. Little did I remember, though, was that I had set an alarm for 5:00 AM. I was born at 5:15 AM and every year I try to be awake for my birthday. I did wake up this year, but was so tired from lack of sleep that I quickly fell back asleep…what a bummer 😦
Yesterday, we made my birthday cake! It was a red velvet with berries cake. We actually realized we didn’t have any red food coloring, so the cake looks chocolate. Either way, we had cake for breakfast (because cake is acceptable as breakfast on your birthday!). It tasted just as good as it looked. I found the recipe here.
The rest of the day, I spent with my lovely mom and dad. They are the best parents. Without them, I would not be where I am today. They have supported and loved me in the best of times as well as the worst of times.
My parents are a huge believe of home-cooked meals, and it’s fine by me because they cook some amazing things! Today we had shrimp fettucini! It was so good…forgot to snap a picture while I was scarfing it down;)
Each birthday I am reminded how much I am loved. So thank you to everyone I have ever had the chance to meet– you guys have shaped me into the person I am today. Thanks for the lovely birthday messages. I love you all.
xoxo,
Kelly
